Dear Valued Customers,

At 1Click Heating & Cooling, we are at the forefront of advocating for and facilitating home electrification in Canada. As industry leaders, we feel it’s crucial to address the evolving landscape of electrification programs in Canada, with a particular focus on the Canada Greener Homes Initiative and the recent developments in the federal government’s economic update.

Recent Developments

We recently learned that the Greener Homes Grant program is expected to be suspended in March 2024. While this information precedes an official government announcement, it has raised concerns within our industry and among our customers.

1Click has played a pivotal role in helping Canadians navigate these beneficial programs. The potential suspension of the Greener Homes Grant is troubling, as it may lead to uncertainty among our customers regarding their plans for energy-efficient home upgrades.

Our Commitment to You

We want to reassure those who have already embarked on this journey with us, that if you have applied for the Greener Homes Grant and had your first audit completed before March 1st, 2024, you will still be eligible for the grants. This provision is essential for many who are currently planning or implementing their home upgrades.

Despite these uncertain times, 1Click’s commitment to electrification of the home remains unwavering. We are continuing to dedicate time and significant resources to our long-term investments in technology and education. Our dedication includes providing you with the latest information, expert guidance, and high-quality services to navigate these changes.

The Way Forward

We understand that recent developments might cause apprehension. However, our team is here to support and guide you in making informed decisions. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and advocate for policies that support the electrification movement and your needs as our valued customers.

In line with our commitment to your goals for a greener home and a sustainable future, we appreciate your trust in us, and we will work diligently to uphold it.

Questions from the Federal Fall Economic Update

In light of the recent federal fall economic update, we’d like to address some questions that may be on your mind:

1. How will the proposed enhancements to the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program benefit me as a homeowner considering a switch to electric heat pumps?

The federal government has proposed allocating $500 million over four years, starting in 2023-24, to enhance the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program. This program currently offers grants of up to $10,000 for low- to median-income households across Canada looking to transition from oil heating to an electric heat pump. Under the enhanced program, eligible households in provinces and territories partnering with the federal government could receive up to $15,000 in federal grants, along with additional support from local authorities. This level of support is designed to make the transition to a heat pump virtually cost-free for most Canadians who need one. Additionally, a $250 incentive payment will be available for these households to make the switch.

2. How will changes to the Canada Greener Homes Initiative eligibility requirements impact my ability to switch to a heat pump, especially if I currently heat my home with propane or natural gas?

The federal government is actively exploring options to streamline eligibility requirements under the Canada Greener Homes Initiative. These changes are intended to make it easier for Canadians in every part of the country, including those currently using propane or natural gas for heating, to transition to a heat pump. While specific details are still pending, the government’s commitment to simplifying the process is a positive sign for homeowners looking to make this eco-friendly transition.

At 1Click Heating & Cooling, we remain committed to providing you with the latest information and expert guidance regarding these developments. Our goal is to ensure that you have the support and resources needed to make informed decisions about your home electrification journey.

Thank you for your continued trust and support as we work together towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Sincerely,

Nathan Horton CEO, 1Click Heating & Cooling
